1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and by our Privacy & Cookies notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update these terms from time to time, and your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised terms.
2. About this site
Gov Transparency Project is an independent, non-partisan, informational and editorial publication about U.S. government transparency. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the United States government or any federal, state, or local agency. References to government bodies, programs, officials, or data are for identification and commentary only and do not imply any endorsement or official status.
3. No professional advice
All content on this site is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, or other professional advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to take any particular action. Do not rely on the site to make financial, legal, or other decisions. Always consult a qualified professional about your specific situation before acting.
4. Accuracy & data disclaimer
The figures, charts, and summaries on this site are aggregated and derived from third-party public sources — for example the Federal Election Commission (FEC), QuiverQuant, the Federal Reserve (FRED), the U.S. Treasury, and Congress.gov. These sources may contain errors, omissions, delays, or reporting lags, and our aggregation or presentation may introduce further inaccuracies. All content is provided "as is," without any warranty as to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any purpose.
Important: the fact that a campaign contribution, financial disclosure, or stock trade is shown on this site is drawn from public disclosures and is not an allegation, and not proof, of any wrongdoing, illegality, conflict of interest, or impropriety by any person or entity. Disclosed activity is, in the ordinary case, entirely lawful. Nothing on this site should be read as stating or implying that any individual has acted unlawfully or improperly. Always verify figures against the official primary source before relying on them.
5. No warranties
The site and all of its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither Gov Transparency Project nor the operators of this site will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the site or your reliance on any content, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Your sole and exclusive remedy if you are dissatisfied with the site is to stop using it.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Misuse the site or interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it or its underlying systems.
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest content in a manner that imposes an unreasonable load, circumvents technical limits, or otherwise abuses the service.
- Use the site or its content for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, threaten, defame, or intimidate any individual.
- Misrepresent the content — for example, presenting disclosed data as an accusation of wrongdoing.
8. Intellectual property
The original text, design, layout, and editorial selection on this site are © Gov Transparency Project and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. The underlying government data we present (such as federal records and filings) is generally in the public domain and is not owned by us. Data derived from QuiverQuant is attributed to that source and remains subject to its rights and terms. You may quote or reference short excerpts with attribution, and any embeddable widgets we offer may be used in keeping with their attribution requirements. Please don't reproduce substantial portions of our original content without permission.
9. Third-party links
The site contains links to external websites and data sources that we do not control. We provide these links for convenience and reference only; we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, policies, or practices of any third-party site, and a link is not an endorsement. Your use of any linked site is governed by that site's own terms and privacy policy.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gov Transparency Project and the operators of this site from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the site, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms at any time by updating this page and the "Last updated" date above. Changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable U.S. law, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute relating to the site or these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts of competent jurisdiction. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
